Founded in 1995 by artistic director, Melissa Hooks Robinson, Masters Upper Level (MUL) is recognized as one of the top competitive dance studios in the nation!

A Tradition of Excellence

MUL is a trend-setting dance studio that raises the bar through a tradition of excellence in all genres of dance. We offer a variety of Dance Programs in a unique Dance Company environment. Our dancers benefit from the different teaching styles and energy through instruction from each of our professional Faculty members.

Professional Dance Instruction & Experiences

Each year, our dancers are able to experience classes from in house and guest instructors and choreographers, performances, fund raising events and regional and national competitions. Through these experiences, our dancers develop leadership skills, learn teamwork, gain better time management, set and attain goals and build self esteem in a nurturing and positive environment.

Many MUL Alumni have gone on to careers in performing or teaching dance.  For every student who advances to dance professionally, there are hundreds of others who choose other paths for their lives.  If asked, they will tell you their lives are richer because they were a part of the Masters family.

Executive Staff

Mr. Glenn and Mrs. Shannon Bohny – Studio Owners  

Mr. and Mrs. Bohny have been closely connected with Masters Upper Level (MUL) since 1996. Much of their involvement during that time came in the form of being supportive parents for daughters Blair and Chelsea who both danced for Melissa Hooks Robinson, the original owner of MUL, and other staff.

As parents the Bohny’s experienced first-hand all that MUL represents …teaching young people who love to dance life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and dedication.  

In 2007, the Bohny’s purchased MUL from Melissa Hooks Robinson. As studio owners, it is their desire to provide a friendly and nurturing environment that empowers young dancers to improve their dance skills and ultimately thrive in a competitive arena.  Their business objectives are to provide a quality facility with talented and dedicated staff members who can help students become the best they can be, both as individuals, and as members of a team.  

Mr. and Mrs. Bohny very much enjoy watching students develop close lasting friendships while they have fun, study dance and compete as members of the Masters’ family.
